Pitting Ethlas Amongst the Best
Starting August 28, 2021, the Polygon Grant Online Hackathon was officially launched at Hackerlink.io, DoraHacks’ open-source developer incentive platform.
The Hackathon is sponsored by Polygon with a $100,000 prize pool to encourage developers to contribute early-stage projects and ideas to the Polygon ecosystem.
For individual community contributors: you can donate to any project(s) you like with your wallet. By clicking “Vote” following that project, you will be able to enter votes and the smart contract will return the cost (or the amount of donation) for the votes. Your votes will eventually determine how the sponsor pool gets distributed.

1. Setting up MetaMask Account

For desktop users — Chrome Extension
Step A: Go to the MetaMask Website and click “Install MetaMask for Chrome” or visit MetaMask Chrome Web Store to add the extension to Chrome.
Step B: Click “Add to Chrome” in the upper right, and “Add Extension” to complete the installation.
You will know MetaMask has been installed when you see the fox logo on the upper right-hand corner of your browser.
Step C: Click on the MetaMask logo at the top right of your Chrome browser

Step D: Read and agree to the terms and conditions
Step E: Enter a password and click “Create” to create your wallet.
Step F: You will see a set of 12 “seed words” which are the Secret Recovery Phrase for your vault. Click “Save Seed Words as File” and copy the “MetaMask Seed Words” file that is downloaded to a safe place. You will need it to access your vault.
Step G: Click “I’ve Copied It Somewhere Safe” once your seed words file has been secured. You’ll be taken into your MetaMask wallet!
2. Login Into Your MetaMask Account
Enter your Seed Phrases or Secret Recovery Phrase and Password for “Import Wallet”
3. Setup MetaMask to connect to Matic Network
Follow these steps from this guide for Setting up MetaMask for Polygon (Matic Network)
Switch the connected blockchain by clicking on the tab saying Main Ethereum Network, we need to add the Matic network.
Scroll down until you find Custom RPC.
Enter in the Matic Mainnet settings as follows:
- Network Name: Polygon
- New RPC URL: https://polygon-rpc.com or
https://rpc-mainnet.matic.network or
https://rpc-mainnet.maticvigil.com or
https://rpc-mainnet.matic.quiknode.pro
- ChainID: 137
- Symbol: MATIC
- Block Explorer URL: https://polygonscan.com/
Click Save.
You have now connected to the Polygon / MATIC Network with your MetaMask Wallet!
Transactions on the Polygon network require its native token MATIC which will be used as gas fee.
4. Buy MATIC Tokens for the voting and donation
To purchase MATIC Tokens, use on Crypto.com using their Playstore or Apple Store App.
Transfer purchased MATIC Tokens into your MetaMask Wallet to add to your balance.
